Marion Marlow is a new brand specialising in handcrafted toys, wallets, shoes and other items. Because this was a new start-up, branding rules were not so rigid and so I had some creative freedom to try give this brand an identity.
I tried to give the website a clean look, using white space as much as possible. I also tried to limit the amount of colour used around on the webpages so that the images of the products pop out more.
UI/UX • Web Development • e-Commerce
My first chance to have project on woo-commerce, which was exciting! This was an eye-opener on how using child-themes to alter the webpage is crucial to the structure of the website. Allowing the site to get updates from woo-commerce without altering the front-end of the page.
We dropped visitors straight onto the products as we believed that the sheer vibrancy and design work would be enough to peak the interest of the individual. The website consisted of a Shop, a Gallery to display previous work, and a blog to allow the creator to show the audience how items are made and why decisions are taken.
I also used a shrinking nav to allow an impactful first view of the company logo, to then slide away at the top of the screen so that the user isn’t impeded in their view of the website. This is important as most people will be visiting this website not really knowing about the brand yet.
